Ben's procedure

First Jack had his eye procedure, now Ben has had his bottom procedure. He has what is called a perianal abscess, and it had to be cut and drained. We've been monitoring a small lump near his rectum for several months now, and it's varied in size over time, sort of coming and going. When it turned red and got larger, we notified the doctor who sent us to a pediatric surgeon's office. Poor, poor baby. He was shaking during the procedure because it hurt. Little champ, though, he fell asleep on my shoulder going to the car and acted like he's felt fine ever since. What a trooper! Unfortunately, the doctor told us we'd likely have to have an operation because it looks like Ben may have an anal fistula. We are crossing our fingers that this is not the case, and that his bottom will heal with no more problems. Praying for no surgery!
